Play your position

I played youth baseball back in middle school. Once during practice the shortstop ran what seemed like halfway across the outfield to catch a fly ball. Afterwards, our coach commented that it was a good catch, but the center fielder was in position to make the catch and the shortstop should have been elsewhere on the field. Play your position and trust your teammates was the lesson for the day.

A similar thing can be said about teamwork at my job. An operations shift involves a relatively small tight-knit group, and everyone needs the space to do their job so we can deliver commanding instructions in a timely manner. It works best when everyone plays their position and trusts their teammates.
